I need to ensure Matthew will make it to adulthood mentally and psychologically whole, that he can achieve his educational goals without fear of assault or harassment, and that he has every chance to live a flourishing, healthy life as an adult."

I am not a parent, nor trans. But approaching this issue from the point of view of a parent seems to be a good way of opening people's hearts and minds.
